Meet Our New JONAH Intern!

My name is Shannon Severud.  I am a social work student in my last semester at UWEC.  I will be interning with JONAH until mid-May.  I am excited to get to meet each of you and learn more about what your task force is currently working on.  I hope to attend each of your meetings in the coming month so I can meet you in person.

I have many interests including: child welfare, affordable housing, foster care, adoption, mental health issues in youth, helping children by helping their families, and racial justice.  I’ve lived in Eau Claire for 3 ½ years and am originally from Rice Lake, WI.  I am an active member of West Ridge Church in Eau Claire and volunteer at Hope Gospel Mission leading a Bible study group for the women and also a Celebrate Recovery small group.  I am also a part of the CollECtive Choir in Eau Claire.  I have a background in landscape architecture and art and like to garden, repurpose and visit historic buildings, keep bees and chickens, hike and bike.  I have 5 children, 3 of whom are still living at home with me (ages 7-12).  Their many activities keep me busy too.
