“This month we would like to highlight Kelly Mahoney, she is a part of the Justice Action Team (a merger between JONAH and Clear Vision) which works on the intersectionality of poverty, mental health and criminal legal issues. She is also a leader in EXPO and FREE, and believes in working towards creating just systems, through advocacy and policy change. Her work with these groups has earned her a spot on the Eau Claire Criminal Justice Collaborative Council.”
- What is your favorite thing about JONAH?
The different task forces that deal with very different and important issues that affect our community. The support that everyone shows for each other and the overlapping of issues allows us to work with each other and tackle some issues together.
- How did you get involved?
Sarah Ferber invited me to the JONAHbanquet in 2019, and in being involved with EXPO I also stayed close with JONAH and continued doing work with EXPO and JONAH.
- What have you been involved in?
Criminal Justice Reform Task force, Chippewa Valley Justice Action Team, EXPO, leadership training, and public speaking at events.
- Why do you stay involved?
I believe strongly in the values of JONAH and that the organization connects leaders in the faith community. It is a space where I feel empowered to get out into the community and work towards change. I believe strongly in how the organization is moving our community in a positive direction and getting the word out about issues that some are unaware are happening in their own community. Through JONAH I am able to also have support in community actions and organizing.
- What are you looking forward to?
I am looking forward to continuing to work closely with others in JONAH and the work we will continue doing in 2023. I am looking forward to being able to have more in person events in the coming year (COVID willing), it is so nice being able to connect in person.
- What are your Hobbies/Activities?
Running, spending time with my daughter/family, hiking, traveling, health & wellness, continuing my education and knowledge, and supporting others in the work.
- What local business do you like to support?
