Voices United Task Force

Engaging people and voters to engage civically around issues they care about, and exercise their voice, has always been an integral part of JONAHs’ organizing work. Recently a dedicated group has felt a call to deeply commit to focusing specifically on this work.

Voices United Task Force, led by Erin Ries (erinries0@gmail.com), meets weekly-monthly (depending on current events) with a mission to: broadly connect to people intentionally, support them in finding their voice, encouraging them to exercise their voice. We hope to bring a light to where partisan politics have caused apathy, division, and confusion.

Things we do: During election seasons we partner with voter registration and education organizations to help people vote easily and informed, provide rides to the polls and free paratransit, write letters to non-voters, and generally encourage people to exercise their civic right and have hope in democratic processes. We love to canvass – listen to people right at their door, and are always looking for folks to join us. We create positive imagery messages (which we have used in buttons, graphics, mailers, yard signs). We engage in conversations.

We will never tell people how to vote or what to think, but we do want all voices to be heard and informed.
