THE ENCHANTED FOREST

JOINING OUR NEIGHBORS ADVANCING HOPE

JONAH is committed to social justice issues that include the needs of our community for healthier, safer, and better places for people to live and work. At this moment in our community and our world, the need for justice, equity, and compassion has never been more urgent. Since 2007, JONAH has been active in many aspects of social justice including issues related to the environment, affordable housing, transportation, mental health, and immigration. JONAH Task Forces are made up of community volunteers and representatives from partner organizations. We have an engaged following that holds the belief that people need support in these trying times.

JONAH leadership is committed to our founding principles and now realizes the importance of establishing and sustaining financial support. This is the reason for our going forward with our First Annual Fundraiser Gala. We are promoting awareness of the special work that we do. As important as raising money is, it is also about standing together, affirming our values, and investing in a more just and equitable future.

Our main goal is to reach out to community leaders and advocates who have never been connected to JONAH, or businesses who would like to increase their understanding and support. After we make those connections, we will be inviting our current and past donors, past volunteers and members, and encouraging friends who may be new to JONAH to attend. We are confident that JONAH’s message is valuable and that we will experience financial and member growth.

As a new and active member of JONAH’s Fundraising Team, I am happy to be involved in the planning of our Gala. We have deliberately chosen The Enchanted Forest theme because of our desire for a sustainable and thriving environment. Our Environmental Task Force mentors several area church communities and works with legislators on timely issues. Our team and Director Lynn Buske share a passion for what JONAH stands for. As I become more involved, I can see the results created by our various task forces; not only for the people in our area who benefit but also how our work has affected each of us!

Our Gala evening on March 14, will begin as you enter the beautiful venue at 29 Pines at 6 p.m. The evening will include a delicious appetizer buffet along with a complimentary drink. There will be local musical guests to entertain us. Auction items are being offered as well. I am looking forward to “dressing up” and enjoying the evening and meeting new benefactors of JONAH.
More details will be coming, but you can find information on our website calendar at: www.jonahjustice.org.
