Save the Date – April 25th Earth Week Open House

By Sue Waits, Chair of the Environmental Task Force

The JONAH Environmental Task Force encourages everyone to do what they can, as it is more important for 1000 people to do something rather than rely on one person to do it all perfectly. We are bombarded by negative news and it can be overwhelming to know what we can do individually and as a community to positively impact the environment. The Earth Week Open House is an opportunity to celebrate what is happening in the Chippewa Valley and to bring many resources together at one location so attendees can ask questions and learn.

The JONAH Environmental Task Force, in collaboration with Beaver Creek Reserve and the Eau Claire Office of Recycling and Sustainability, is hosting the Earth Week Open House on April 25th from 4-8 PM at the Brewing Projekt in Eau Claire (address below). Over 35 vendors will be available to answer your questions. You will learn the answers to: What is carbon neutrality, How do I get tax refunds by making my home more energy efficient, Is solar energy feasible for me, Where can I do do bulk shopping in Eau Claire, Why do native plants matter, What is recyclable in Eau Claire County, How do I start a Green Team, What is biodiversity, How can I use less single-use plastic, and many others. There will be a Bingo game, door prizes, and kids’ games to add to the fun.

Not only will attendees learn about local resources, the Open House will provide an opportunity for environmental organizations to collaborate and have greater impact by working together. We look forward to celebrating Earth Week with you and learning together what we can do to incorporate sustainable habits into our daily routines.
