My Experience as JONAH’s Intern

Before this internship, I was not aware of the social justice issues facing our community. Like many people, I was caught up in my own world and could not see or comprehend that there were these issues outside of my world. I am now well aware of the issues that the community is facing and know how important it is to volunteer my time to make the community a better place to live.

It was a great experience to work with JONAH and be immersed with the social justice issues facing our community. I believe that a lot of people want to help but don’t know the issues that the community that they are in is facing. I urge people to go to JONAH’s community meetings, research about social justice issues in your community, and try and get involved in some way. Getting involved will make the community that you live in exceptional for the future generations to come.

In my concluding thoughts, I have always been told this growing up, “it takes a community to raise a child and a community to raise a community”. Through JONAH’s programs and the work that they do to make sure that everyone in this community has a fair chance at life, I can really see the saying rings true, it truly does take a community to raise a child and a community to raise a community. Thank you again for this amazing opportunity.
